How it all works

1. GET IN TOUCH

Fill out the quick contact form here or send me an email or message via Facebook messenger. Include your preferences for session type, location and the approximate timeframe you would like to book. If booking a newborn session, please include your approximate due date, or how old bub is currently if they are already here. I'll be in touch within 48 hours!

2. CONTRACT & PAYMENT

Once all the details for your session are confirmed, I'll send through a contract to sign and I require a $100 non-refundable deposit to secure your booking, with the remaining balance to be paid prior to your session taking place. The full session fee is due upon booking for seasonal and monthly mini sessions.

3. PLANNING & SESSION

You will receive a detailed client guide with all the tips, recommendations and things to keep in mind while preparing for your session. For newborn and milestone sessions, you will also receive a questionnaire which lets you select the props and colours that you would like included.

4. YOUR GALLERY

Roughly 4-6 weeks after your session takes place, you will receive a link to your online gallery with all of your edited photos to choose from. Additional images can be purchased for $14.99 each, or if you love all of them you can purchase the full edited gallery for $150.

FAQ

Where is your studio located?

A.My in-home studio is located in Faringdon, Rolleston, and it is available Tuesday-Saturday between 10am-4pm.

It's a cute little space, perfect for newborns and little ones! However, due to its size the studio is not suitable for larger or extended families.

Do you travel?

A.I love exploring new places and travel all around Christchurch and Canterbury for maternity, lifestyle newborn and family sessions.

Additional travel fees may apply for locations outside of Christchurch & Rolleston.

How will we receive our photos?

A.Once your edited images are complete, you will receive an email with a link to your private client gallery from which you can select your favourites to download. You will also have the opportunity to purchase additional digital images - or the entire edited gallery! - on top of the allocated number that is included with your session package, along with fine art prints and beautiful canvases.

Can we purchase all of the unedited images that were not included in our client gallery?

A.No, unedited images are not available to purchase. While I do take a number of photos during our session, I do not show or provide the unedited images as they are incomplete and do not reflect the high standard of work I provide. I spend a great deal of time carefully selecting and editing the images for your gallery that I believe you will absolutely love, while removing any with eyes closed, unflattering angles and a large number duplicates.

Do you photograph events such as weddings or birthday parties?

A.No, I don't currently offer event, wedding or party packages.

When is the best time to book a maternity session?

A.Maternity sessions are best done when the mamas-to-be are between 28-36 weeks. As I am often booked up several months in advance, I do recommend getting in touch early in the second trimester to chat about the session options and secure your place. Feel free to ask about my newborn sessions at the same time!

Do you provide maternity dresses for your sessions?

A.Yes! I have a small range of dresses which the mums-to-be are more than welcome to view and try on in my little Rolleston studio before their sessions takes place. Get in touch to arrange a viewing before your session or check out the client wardrobe section on my website to see what I have available.

Can we include extra family members or siblings in the maternity session?

A.Yes absolutely! Please just let me know before the day so we can discuss and incorporate them into our session plan.

When is the best time to book a newborn session?

A.Newborn sessions are ideally done within the first 5-14 days of life as that’s when they are at their smallest and easiest to curl into those gorgeous poses - however I do offer these sessions up to 16 weeks with just a few adjustments to suit slightly older and more alert bubs.

I only take a limited number of sessions each month so I recommend getting in touch early in your second trimester to secure your place. I completely understand that little ones don't always arrive when expected, so when booking in the newborn sessions we'll tentatively pencil in a date around a week after you're due and we can adjust the date as needed once they are here.

If you're a little further along in your pregnancy or bub has already arrived, feel free to still get in touch to check my availability.

How long do the newborn sessions take?

A.I offer a range of session options which all allow for different lengths of time. The sessions which include creative prop set ups and poses will typically take up to 3-4 hours. While this may seem like a long time, you'd be surprised by how quickly it goes. We often spend a great deal of time feeding and settling bub to keep them comfortable, as well as taking any extra time needed to move them gently between props and poses - the actual photo-taking time itself is relatively short!

When we have sessions that include siblings, we will often do the family and sibling section first. This means that once their part is all done, the siblings can take a wee break with dad or another family member down at the local park or shops while we focus on the individual newborn photos.

Are all the props, decorations and outfits included?

A.Yes I provide all of the props, wraps, decorations and outfits for Creative newborn sessions, as well as for the Milestone, Milk Bath and Cake Smash & Splash set ups.

I don't use balloons or other disposable decorations in my Cake Smash & Splash sessions, but love creating beautiful set ups with the wide range of props and backdrops I have available, including natural dried florals, vintage toys and bears, and a variety of other natural and handmade items.

If you have something special you'd like to bring along or that you'd like your little one to wear, you are more than welcome to bring your own props, sentimental items and outfits along as well! Just have a chat with me before our session so we can discuss the best ways to incorporate them.

Do you provide the cake for the Cake Smash & Splash sessions?

A.Yes the Cake Smash & Splash sessions include a yummy vanilla sponge cake, decorated in a naked cake style with white white frosting. The cake toppers and theme related decorations are all included as well!

If you'd like to make your own cake or have a preferred baker, you are more than welcome to bring your own cake along instead and receive a small discount on the session. If your little one isn't a fan of cake, you can also bring along something a little different e.g. a watermelon fruit cake, bowl of pudding/yoghurt, or anything they can have lots of fun getting messy with!

I sadly can't cater for allergies and I do not currently offer sugar free options.

For the Petite Smash sessions you must provide your own cake or sweet treat, as the cake is not included in that package.

Can you do the Cake Smash & Splash sessions in our own home or at their birthday party?

A.I don't offer these sessions in your home or on location for a few reasons; The backdrop set ups in my studio take quite a bit of time to create and I will often get everything ready to go the day before, which I am unable to do with in-home or on-location sessions. It also gets VERY messy - I'm talking frosting smeared into the carpet, on the couch, flung onto the walls and I've even found it on the roof! - so it's a much more pleasant experience when you don't have to worry about clean up afterwards. And lastly I find that if we are in your home or at a party, your little one is more likely to become distracted and want to move away from the cake/bubble bath much faster, resulting in fewer or poorer quality images. Overall, I believe we are able to create a much better experience and capture the best results in my little Rolleston studio.
